Project FOTA: a seamless approach to security

With vehicles becoming more connected through the internet, wireless networks, and communication protocols, carmakers, suppliers, and other automotive industry stakeholders must prioritise cybersecurity throughout a vehicle’s entire lifecycle. To meet these needs, we established a unified approach that merges all the critical safety and security requirements. The process was designed based on our internal FOTA project to achieve a framework for implementing cybersecurity work products that can be reused for other clients with minimal modifications.

Hazard analysis and risk assessment in automotive

Our client, a global Tier 1 company specialising in providing complete systems and sub-systems for the automotive industry, aimed to develop systems for an autonomous bus classified as level 5. Spyrosoft’s role included creating a hazard analysis with risk assessment (HARA). Regular meetings with the client led to the establishment of safety goals and violation scenarios, along with safety mechanisms to mitigate risk.
