Challenges and business needs

Due to the high competitiveness in the ecommerce industry and the ever-changing habits of customers, our client needed support in adjusting the appearance and functionality of their store to current user requirements and market trends. The main challenges in the project were revamping the client’s existing platform and implementing fixes and improvements related to the UX design and the frontend and backend of the website. The project’s goal was to modernise the online store and prepare intuitive and user-friendly solutions that will streamline the purchasing journey and positively enhance the experience of the end-customers.

Initial project responsibilities

As part of the endeavour, we provided the client with comprehensive services – from the design of the visual layer to the implementation of a new online store based on Magento 2 and its integration with Akeneo.

We initiated the project by conducting a thorough website audit and analysing the requirements and preferences of our client’s users. Using our accumulated knowledge and previous experience in the ecommerce sector, we created a complete UX design of the store – including mock-ups, fully adapted to the latest trends and with the potential to increase end-user engagement. Then, through smooth implementation of the approved designs, we refreshed the store frontend and made the site more intuitive to use.

Upgrading and adjusting the backend

An essential part of the project was also related to the website’s backend. In this regard, we relied on the solution used in one of the foreign versions of the store. However, during the analysis, we identified numerous problems and errors that called for improvement. This backend needed to be adjusted to the local market and required additional changes and corrections. The introduction of new enhancements to this version of the backend allowed us to update and adapt it to the latest version of Magento 2, thus ensuring the smooth operation of the new solutions and their full functionality.

Integration with PIM system

In addition to developing the new Magento-based store, our activities also included migrating data from the client’s previous version of the store and integrating it with Akeneo. Implementing the PIM system involved an in-depth analysis of product structures and matching them to the new system. The solution we recommended enables our client’s employees to efficiently manage key product information, thereby contributing to work optimisation and ensuring consistency and high quality of product data.

Results

Our cooperation with the client resulted in the introduction of a revamped online store, that meets all the conditions to succeed in the competitive ecommerce sector. Modernising the existing platform and making improvements in terms of UX design, as well as frontend and backend functionalities, allowed us to effectively transform the online store and adjust it to current user requirements and market trends. Thanks to the smooth implementation of Magento 2 and the seamless integration of Akeneo PIM, our client can now offer end users an exceptional shopping experience while maintaining high operational efficiency for the company.
