Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer with expert knowledge of mobile development (iOS and/or Android) to join us working with our media client developing their mobile applications. They will make a key contribution to the entire development lifecycle including new writing features, fixing bugs and performing code reviews.
The successful application will have knowledge of cross platform development who can work across Android and iOS together. A tendency towards one platform is acceptable but a willingness to learn and work across the other is essential.
Additionally they will be happy to discuss technical details with the rest of the engineering team, be well versed in Swift/Kotlin and iOS/Android frameworks, care about quality code, love collaboration, have experience in test driven development and be willing to learn to development strategies around accessibility, security, continuous delivery and many other areas across the team.
Essential Key Skills and Responsibilities
You will:
- have commercial mobile development experience in iOS or Android (willingness to work with both)
- have a solid grounding of object orientated programming techniques and good understanding of software design patterns
- be able to demonstrate test driven development
- have a track record of producing maintainable code within collaborative environments
- have an ability to rapidly acquire new software skills and work with new technologies
- be experienced of working with source control systems (e.g. Github)
- be experienced using iOS and Android build tools
- have an ability to understand and translate business requirements into technical solutions
- have experience of working with bug tracking tools (e.g. Jira) and wikis (e.g. Confluence)
- have experience developing for memory constrained devices
- have professional experience of working in projects using Agile Scrum development processes
- enjoy collaborating with other engineers
- have a strong willingness to learn and be a keen team player
- have experience of writing and taking responsibility for technical documentation
Experience
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or similar work based experience.
- Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer ideally with a focus on media-related projects.
- Very good working knowledge of standard software development frameworks, techniques and methodologies.
- Experience with providing coaching and mentoring
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team, contributing to the development of business scenarios.
- Knowledge of software development tools and technologies.
- You are flexible and curious in your approach
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
