Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a project that focuses on performance enhancements across various systems, including APIs and databases within the AWS infrastructure. The goal is to optimize these systems to ensure they operate at peak efficiency, improving response times, reducing latency, and increasing overall reliability. This will involve in-depth analysis, fine-tuning of system configurations, and the implementation of best practices for performance optimisation.
The end goal of Project is to achieve consistent and sustained performance improvements across all targeted systems, including APIs and databases. This will be reflected in all AWS accounts reaching and maintaining a Green RAG status, as monitored by the internal tools. By optimising these systems, the project aims to enhance user experiences, reduce operational bottlenecks, and ensure that the infrastructure is fully optimised to handle high-demand scenarios efficiently and reliably. Success will be marked by stable, high-performing systems that meet or exceed performance benchmarks
Essential Skills:
You will:
- AWS Hands-on experience with AWS
- Java/Scala/API and DB with Infrastructure improvements
- Proficient in Springboot
- AWS Devops
- Previous experience maintaining AWS infrastructure with deploying Java applications
- Knowledge of Java applications, PostgreSQL and MongoDB
- Enjoy pair programming and collaborating with other engineers
- Have a strong willingness to learn and be a keen team player
- Have experience of writing and taking responsibility for technical documentation
Desirable Skills:
- Domain knowledge of different technologies required in each step of the chain for online video streaming
- Working knowledge of CI/CD & Cloud technologies – AWS
- Familiarity with video encoding and processing tools (FFmpeg, Wowza and gStreamer)
Experience:
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or similar work based experience.
- Proven experience as a Senior Software Developer ideally with a focus on media-related projects
- Very good working knowledge of standard software development frameworks, techniques and methodologies
- Experience with providing coaching and mentoring
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team, contributing to the development of business scenarios
- Knowledge of software development tools and technologies
- You are flexible and curious in your approach
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
