Role overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join us working with our media client. The engagement focuses on collaborating with a dedicated team of engineers who are in the process of reworking a content management product. The primary goal is to eliminate the dependency on an expensive proprietary component, streamlining the product for greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness. As part of this effort, the role will require an in-depth understanding of the existing infrastructure and a proactive approach to identifying areas for improvement. The team is tasked with making key changes that will not only enhance the product but also align with long-term scalability and sustainability objectives.

Collaboration will be at the core of this role, as it involves close coordination with team members across various stages of the project. This includes scoping out specific tasks, reviewing newly developed functionality, and testing to ensure that the final product is robust and meets quality standards. Regular communication and feedback loops will be essential to ensure that everyone is aligned on the objectives and that any roadblocks can be addressed swiftly. A strong team dynamic will be fostered to encourage innovative solutions and ensure smooth integration of new features.

The team is currently accelerating its development pace due to an approaching deadline, making it crucial to boost throughput without compromising quality. With time-sensitive milestones ahead, the role will also demand flexibility and adaptability to evolving project needs. As the deadline looms, this collaborative effort will aim to balance speed with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that the product is delivered on time and meets the required standards.

Essential Key Skills and Responsibilities

You will:

have expertise in Java
have the ability to be vocal and proactive in standups
hands on experience with PostgreSQL
strong AWS knowledge: S3, EC2, SQS/SNS
have professional experience of working in projects using Agile Scrum/Kanban development processes
be familiar with TDD
have knowledge of MarkLogik, Cucumber – JVM, MongoDB, XQuery Lambda
have a strong willingness to learn and be a keen team player

Experience

A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or similar work based experience.
Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer ideally with a focus on media-related projects.
Very good working knowledge of standard software development frameworks, techniques and methodologies.
Experience with providing coaching and mentoring.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team, contributing to the development of business scenarios.
Knowledge of software development tools and technologies.
You are flexible and curious in your approach.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
