Build-Operate-Transfer

Build a delivery center maintaining control and flexibility!

With Build-Operate-Transfer, you can effortlessly establish remote operations for your company, combining the short-term benefits of outsourcing with the long-term stability of in-house teams.

How does Build-Operate-Transfer work?

Build-Operate-Transfer is a partnership model that allows you to quickly extend your operational capabilities by accessing a nearshore or offshore development team of experts.

It offers a flexible and strategic approach to efficiently broaden your operational reach while maintaining control and flexibility over your core business activities.

With support from your nearshore/offshore business partner, you can set up a service delivery centre abroad, hire new people locally, and then integrate them back into your company.

Our Client’s success story

Our goal is to help you overcome technology challenges and turn them into successes. But don’t just take our word for it, instead of us telling you, let our clients speak for themselves.

In this video, Richard Mellors, Principal Product Manager at MHR shared his insights on his favourite aspects and the positive outcomes of our collaboration, successful cooperation in cross-teams, and seamless communication in a culturally diverse environment.

What is the difference between the BOT and traditional outsourcing?

In the traditional outsourcing model, once the partnership ends, you lose access to the resources you’ve used, including the expertise gained by the team members who worked on your project.

By keeping these resources within your organisation, you gain the ability to confidently develop strategic, high-impact projects, treating the BOT model as a pathway to strengthening your internal structures.

Over time, the BOT framework effectively functions as an extension of your company’s own development capabilities, providing the stability and expertise needed to scale sustainably.

Build

Transfer
buid phase in bot model

In the Build stage of the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) engagement model, we focus on establishing a robust offshore team equipped with all the essential resources for success. This encompasses both tangible assets like digital infrastructure and office facilities, as well as intangible assets such as knowledge transfer, all expertly managed by Spyrosoft.

This stage is pivotal for ensuring effective collaboration within the agreed timeframe. While typically spanning 1-3 months, our streamlined onboarding processes can shorten this timeline to just 1-2 weeks, facilitating swift team integration.

Crucially, unlike the other two phases of the model, the Build stage can be offered independently.

If you’d like to know more about this stage, check out this article about the Build stage of BOT.

Cost savings
Shorter time-to-market
We really feel that we’re getting a great service for what we were paying. The whole thing is transparent at all times and the responsibilities were set as clearly as possible, with, for example, the recruitment process covered by Spyrosoft in its entirety.

This stage includes expanding the team as needed and implementing processes to enhance the team’s technical abilities and the project’s business maturity. Towards the end of this phase, we may also plan the transition of lead programmers and team leaders to the partner’s company.

The goal is to achieve a stable and efficient nearshore/offshore development process, setting the groundwork for a seamless transition in the Transfer stage.

Here’s more information about Operate stage of the BOT model.

State-of-the-art technologies
Ability to rapidly scale
Our team in Wroclaw is an extension of the team based in another location, we do not replace anyone in terms of competences or team functions. We are a part of different teams working on various projects. This means also that we have contact with the end customers.

The Transfer stage is the closing stage of the Build-Operate-Transfer model, where, after a thorough review, the teams working on your project are now included in your company.

Your vendor’s employees are now employed by you. This stage should be straightforward if everything goes well in the two earlier stages.

Effortless onboarding
Lower talent retention
As for the Transfer stage, we were simply ready to scale at one point into the collaboration. We wanted to show our customers how quickly we can get new teams on board. In Germany- with its limited pool of developers – it would never be possible to set up a team in 1-2 months.

Frequently asked questions

In the traditional outsourcing model, once your partnership ends, there isn’t a way to access the resources you’ve used in the past, including the expertise you’ve gathered and the people who have worked on your team. It isn’t the case with the Build-Operate-Transfer engagement type, where you keep the knowledge team even after you and your business partner are no longer working together, and the team is transferred into your company.

Yes, we do. Spyrosoft is an agile company, and we were founded on the principles of agile. With Spyrosoft, you can be sure that the processes we use together will closely integrate with those used at your organisation. We have daily scrum standups, retrospectives and iterative ways of developing our clients’ products and services. This is ingrained in all that we do.

Given our agile basis of collaboration, we can follow all our clients’ procedures and standards. The Build-Operate-Transfer partnership ensures that your dedicated teams will work the same way as your in-house employees do. The first stage of the collaboration (Build) involves understanding your product roadmap and goals; building and aligning them to your company culture; assigning resources, providing training where required, and making sure all the elements are embedded into your newly formed group of Spyrosoft experts.

This will depend on the specific requirements of your project, the desired timelines and the size of the team(s) that will provide services. However, on average, we are confident we can start working with our customers within 1–3 months of initial contact. For further details, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We know how difficult it can be to recruit people with niche or highly specialised technical skills. However, Spyrosoft, as a global technology services company, has a vast pool of experts in different parts of the world. From our UK, Poland, Germany, Croatia, and the US offices, we can quickly assign a fully or partially remote team to support your project.

We have extensive experience working with global companies, so we routinely use multiple tried and tested communication and workflow management tools such as Jira, Skype for Business, Zoom, Slack, Trello and Asana, as well as Microsoft applications such as Teams, Stream, etc.

Spyrosoft uses a Framework Agreement to present terms of business. Under the Framework Agreement, Work Orders describe services for each project engagement or resource allocation. We will always seek customer Work Order approval before the commencement of services. Intellectual Property for work undertaken will transfer to our customers upon payment of services. Spyrosoft monthly invoices have 30-day payment terms and are presented with all associated timesheets and any applicable expenses for each Spyrosoft consultant who has delivered services.

Spyrosoft is happy to work on either a fixed price basis per project or a time and materials basis to deliver ongoing services. Please get in touch with us for further details so we can work on a price estimate for your project or so that we can present and discuss our rate cards.
