About the application

Tooltec is a procurement application developed for Solfinity, a leader in the photovoltaic industry. It allows customer care consultations, which previously took place exclusively offline, consuming the team’s time and resources, to be transferred to the digital space. As a result, Solfinity can now offer customers a faster, more intuitive and customised B2B purchasing process.

Business challenges and needs

Solfinity, as a leading solar panels vendor, has faced the challenge of simplifying the purchasing process for its customers. The photovoltaic market requires precise matching of products to individual installation parameters, which is often time-consuming and involves one-on-one consultations between the ordering party and a company consultant or salesperson. To meet the market challenges, Solfinity aimed to build and implement a software solution that increases efficiency and improves customer service.

Our responsibilities

Our project activities began with close cooperation and in-depth knowledge sharing with the Solfinity team. Based on the information provided by the client, we developed an algorithm for placing an order in 11 steps, tailored to the actual needs of the end customer. Thanks to close collaboration, we managed to avoid a costly discovery phase and provide clear guidelines for developers.

The Tooltec app was developed as a plug-in for the Shopware platform. Leveraging React technology in it allowed us to achieve a more efficient frontend and better efficiency and scalability.

On behalf of Solfinity, the Spyrosoft team built an advanced configurator for installers based on the Shopware platform. The tool supports our partners in choosing PV components, guiding them through the purchasing process and eliminating the need to contact the account manager. The Spyrosoft team helped us map the equipment selection algorithm according to the guidelines prepared by Solfinity’s engineering team. As a result, we were able to digitise the PV installation selection process and move it almost entirely to the online world.

Project outcomes

Our efforts resulted in the development of the Tooltec application for the client, which acts as a configurator for photovoltaic panel installation equipment. The solution allows Solfinity’s customers to select products based on available options and guides them through the entire B2B purchasing process. More so, the app offers suggestions for the most suitable products, as well as calculated quantities and explanations that allow customers to thoroughly understand their needs and place an adequate order without having to talk to a consultant. Tooltec also facilitates the process of adding all recommended products to the shopping cart.
