Using new technologies in the offered system helps mitigate fraud, parking time overruns and unwanted parking, thus reducing operating costs and increasing potential revenue for parking lots.

Challenges and business needs

Our client faced significant challenges due to the changing regulatory issues in their industry. The dynamic environment of parking services and increasing expectations of drivers meant that ParkingEye needed the support of experienced tech experts to ensure that the scope of their system would continue to grow. The initial goals of our cooperation involved expanding the Solution Delivery team and carrying out the process of migrating the entire system to cloud solutions based on MS Azure and applying a number of improvements.

As the time progressed our software engineers were also engaged in a bold expansion into the European parking management market, developing a next-generation digital platform as well as taking part in building and provisioning a new digital product for EV charging.

Our responsibilities

Our main responsibility was to implement solutions in response to changes in legal regulations, operational requirements and business-driven requests.

We collaborated closely with the client’s Solution Delivery department to analyse requirements, suggest new technical solutions, and recommend process improvements. By gaining a thorough understanding of ParkingEye’s objectives and pain points, we were able to provide guidance, streamline workflows and enhance the functionality of their parking management systems.

We oversaw software development and system supervision to ensure the seamless execution of all proposed solutions. Our end-to-end involvement allowed us to deliver reliable, scalable solutions that improved efficiency, operational performance and profitability. Moreover, we provided continuous support and resolved production issues.

Key projects & deliverables

VRTM Application

We developed the VRTM mobile app to facilitate on-site visitor registration at ParkingEye-managed sites. Running on Android tablets in kiosk mode, the app synchronises data with ParkingEye’s core system in real time and supports both English and Welsh.

Migration to Microsoft Azure

We migrated ParkingEye’s entire on-premises ecosystem of over 100 components to Microsoft Azure, combining a ‘lift and shift’ approach with the reimplementation of native Azure services. Our work involved analysis, implementation, testing and post-release monitoring to deliver a scalable, resilient and flexible cloud-based architecture.

Engineer App

Our team built the Engineer App with Xamarin to help field teams manage work orders, track tasks and synchronise inventory with the central system. By taking care of most of the technical implementation ourselves, we were able to provide a reliable, intuitive tool that improves operational efficiency in the field.

ParksApp

We also contributed to ParksApp, enabling parking attendants to verify vehicles and issue PCNs. Our work featured ‘Patrol Mode’ for automatic number plate scanning, improving reliability and on-site enforcement accuracy.

Bay Management

This solution monitor EV parking spaces. By using integrated cameras, the system tracks parking duration and issues PCNs to non-EV vehicles. We implemented image processing, vehicle identification, and data validation, ensuring efficient EV bay enforcement.

Evology

We supported React Native app that simplifies parking and payment. Users can now search for car parks, check availability, pre-book, and pay within 24 hours. Here, we also assisted in design, development coordination, and backend integration, enhancing user convenience and strengthening ParkingEye’s digital offering.

Tariff Calculator

As part of the development, we created the Tariff Calculator, which is a core component of the ParkingEye system. It accurately determines parking fees and tariff rules. Serving as the single source of truth for pricing logic, the calculator handles complex scenarios and local variations. We implemented the full library and integration, including a ‘dry run’ mode for testing new tariff models. This delivers a reliable, extensible solution that ensures consistent pricing and supports the further automation of the billing process.

European Cayenne Program

We supported ParkingEye’s expansion into European markets through the European Cayenne Program, adapting their technology for Austria, Germany, and Denmark. Our engineers contributed to upgrading applications to .NET 8, introducing Terraform-based infrastructure pipelines, developing new APIs for Evology Pay, and implementing flexible tariff configurations and editable Word-based letter templates. By participating in design, implementation, and technical delivery, we helped ensure scalable, compliant, and efficient international operations.

Results

Our strategic collaboration with the client’s internal teams has resulted in the implementation of a highly efficient system that has enabled them to overcome technological and legal challenges and achieve significant milestones to ensure the best possible experience for end users of the parking management solution. By addressing challenges, implementing robust technical solutions, and leveraging cloud technologies, we helped our client enhance the efficiency and scalability of the system, as well as increase the profitability and security of end-customers operations.
