Building the software that makes energy certification possible

Adenergo, a PropTech startup operating within the Adeo Group, needed more than a software upgrade. They needed a platform that would allow their business to exist at all. Spyrosoft rebuilt their legacy energy audit tool from the ground up, delivering a cloud-native SaaS application that lets certified energy auditors work directly on-site, on a tablet, without pen and paper.

Business challenge

EU regulations under the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) require every building in Europe to hold a valid energy performance certificate. This creates steady, regulation-driven demand for certified energy auditors – but the tools available to them had not kept pace.

Auditors across Poland and wider Europe relied on CERTO, an ageing desktop application. It forced a two-step workflow: collect data manually on paper at the building site, then return to the office and re-enter everything into a computer. There was no tablet support, no mobility, and no path to scaling toward institutional clients like banks. The interface was complex, error-prone, and built for a workflow that no longer made sense.

Adenergo had acquired CERTO and integrated it into their structure, but the legacy constraints remained. To build a viable business, they needed to replace it entirely.

Our role

Spyrosoft joined the project at the earliest stage – participating in a two-week Discovery Phase alongside researchers from Łódź University of Technology and industry domain experts. This workshop-driven approach allowed the team to map the full complexity of energy certification requirements before writing a single line of code. Following a competitive RFP process, Spyrosoft was selected to deliver the project end-to-end.

Scope of work

The team designed and built energo.app: a web-based SaaS platform accessible from both desktop and tablet. Rather than migrating the old tool feature-by-feature, Spyrosoft treated every workflow as an opportunity to simplify. Complex multi-field audit forms were redesigned using human-centred design principles to reduce input errors and speed up on-site data collection.

Key capabilities delivered include:

  • Full energy performance certificate generation (heating and utility certificates), compliant with Polish and EU legal standards
  • Comprehensive building energy audit module with hundreds of legally required parameters
  • Mobile-first tablet interface for on-site use – no paper, no double entry
  • “Szacun” (Quick Audit) module – a streamlined version designed for financial institutions, already in use with major banks
  • Multi-user support for individual auditors, audit firms, and institutional clients

The technology stack (Vue.js on the frontend, Java on the backend, deployed on Google Cloud Platform) was selected to match the platform’s performance and scalability requirements.

Throughout the project, Spyrosoft has engaged directly with the Adeo Group supervisory board, presenting progress, fielding questions, and co-defending decisions at board-level reviews.

From our expert

Energy certification looks like a niche problem until you understand the regulatory complexity underneath it. We had to know why every input field existed before we could simplify it. The discovery phase with domain experts was what made that possible.

The result

energo.app is now the core product of Adenergo‘s business. The platform removed the single biggest operational constraint auditors faced – the inability to work in the field – and opened an entirely new distribution channel through the Quick Audit module for financial institutions.

  • Auditors work directly on-site using a tablet, eliminating the paper-to-desktop transcription step
  • Simplified UX for complex audit forms reduces input errors and speeds up certification workflows
  • The “Szacun” module has enabled Adenergo to serve institutional clients, including BNP and Santander
  • The platform is built to scale: architecture supports growth across individual auditors and large organisations
  • Total project investment: over 10M PLN, reflecting the scope of trust and strategic importance

The platform is currently in final delivery phase, with commercial rollout planned for Q3/Q4 2026.
