Role overview

We are looking for a Senior Developer to join the Participation team which manages a range of user-facing systems for our client, including Commenting, Voting, and the Quiz engine. These services span various product areas, delivering engaging experiences to users.
Commenting functionality is a key focus, with plans to enhance its capabilities in the coming months. Given the sensitive nature of personal information stored and processed by these systems, security is a top priority.


The Voting system powers high-profile events which leads to handling substantial traffic, as well as smaller-scale fun votes and niche campaigns. Similarly, the Quiz engine supports interactive experiences such as polls, News quizzes, and Children’s games, offering a diverse range of content to users across the platform. Together, these services play a vital role in driving user engagement and enriching the clients digital offerings.
Our technology stack is built and deployed on AWS, with JAVA APIs and Javascript (Node.js, React.js) powering the system. Developers are responsible for the entire pipeline process, working end-to-end across multiple services. This requires adaptability and the ability to
manage context switching effectively. We follow Agile methodologies using SCRUM and two-week sprints, with tasks organized in Jira backlogs. Joining the Participation team means working collaboratively to deliver robust, user-centered solutions on a global scale.

 

Essential Key Skills and Responsibilities

You will:

  • have expertise in Java
  • Github
  • expertise in creating RestFUL API’s using Spring framework on AWS
  • Lambda experience
  • EC2 experience with Step functions, Codepipeline-Writing and Developing
  • have a strong willingness to learn and be a keen team player

Experience 

  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or similar work based experience. 
  • Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer ideally with a focus on media-related projects. 
  • Very good working knowledge of standard software development frameworks, techniques and methodologies. 
  • Experience with providing coaching and mentoring 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, contributing to the development of business scenarios. 
  • Knowledge of software development tools and technologies. 
  • You are flexible and curious in your approach • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

Additional information

Duration of the contract: initially 6 months with the possibility of extension – FTC.
