Project description

Our customer is a leading German producer of customized solutions for the self-supply of solar-powered electricity. This includes photovoltaic, energy storage systems as well as cloud technology systems helping individuals to become energetically independent.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced DevOps Engineer with a strong focus on AWS to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, automation, and security practices, along with a proven track record of managing complex environments. This role requires hands-on experience with a variety of tools and technologies, including Terraform, AWS services, and container orchestration.

Please note that this position involves occasional on-call duty to resolve potential customer-critical incidents.

Main responsibilities:

  •  Infrastructure Automation: Use Terraform to automate and manage cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability and reliability.
  • Network and Storage Management: Manage and optimize cloud network and storage solutions.
  • AWS Services: Utilize a wide range of AWS services including SES, S3, Route 53, EKS, ALB, VPC, IoT Core, or CloudFront to support various applications and processes.
  • Compliance: Assist in implementing compliance standards and security policies.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • System Monitoring: Utilize monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Icinga2 to ensure system performance and availability.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines to facilitate continuous integration and delivery.
  • Container Management: Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Scripting and Automation: Create and maintain scripts for automation using Python and Bash.

Required skills:

  • Network & Storage: Extensive experience with network and storage technologies in the cloud. Understanding of network protocols and security mechanisms, particularly in IoT communication.
  • Cloud Competence: Strong understanding of cloud environments, particularly AWS. Practical experience with a range of AWS services including SES, S3, Route 53, EKS, ALB, VPC, and CloudFront.
  • Compliance: Knowledge and experience in implementing compliance standards and security policies.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Proven experience in implementing backup and recovery strategies.
  • OpenSearch/Elasticsearch: Familiarity with search and analytics tools.
  • Kafka/Confluent Cloud: Experience in managing messaging systems.
  • Container Technologies and Kubernetes: Extensive experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including deploying and managing clusters.
  • Monitoring Tools: Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Icinga2, and Opgenie.
  • Ansible: Proficiency in using Ansible for configuration management.
  • CI/CD and DevOps: Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Infrastructure Automation: Proficiency with tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
  • GitLab Ultimate: Proven experience with GitLab Ultimate CI/CD systems.
  • VPN Knowledge: Experience with VPN technologies like IPsec, OpenVPN, and WireGuard.
  • Firewall Skills: Experience with firewall technologies such as Fortigate, Firewalld, iptables, or OPNsense.
  • Linux Scripting: Proficiency in scripting on Linux using Python and Bash.
  • Service Management: Experience in service management with Atlassian tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).

Nice to have:

• Vector.dev: Knowledge of log processing with Vector.dev.
• Experience in AWS IoT Services: Proficiency with AWS IoT services.
• MQTT & Kafka: Experience in administrating MQTT (HiveMQ) and Kafka / Confluent Cloud.
• NIS2 and Kritis Compliance: Knowledge and experience in implementing compliance standards according to NIS2 and Kritis.
• Layer-3 Switching: At least 3 years of experience with Layer-3 switching technologies like routing, RIP, OSPF, BGP, DHCP, and VRRP.
