Role Overview
We have an opening for a test specialist to work with our media client on their team which specialises in delivering unique functionalities designed for their news and sports websites. We are after a Senior Tester to be responsible for the compatibility, accessibility and functional testing of those websites.
The team never had a dedicated tester, so we’re looking for someone who can increase quality and team health in collaboration with the engineers and the rest of the team. We’re looking for someone who can assist the engineers in writing automated tests, can help with defining test scenarios during refinement, and can support with manual testing.
The successful applicant will have demonstratable JavaScript testing expertise, understand continuous integration and deployment methodologies, have participated in 3 amigo sessions, be comfortable providing test input at all stages of development, have knowledge of accessibility testing and experience with Git and AWS.
Essential Key Skills and Responsibilities
You will:
- have over 4 years testing experience
- have understanding of continuous integration and deployment methodologies
- have participated in 3 amigos meeting and providing test input at all stages of development
- have knowledge of accessibility testing (e.g. assistive technology, tab indexes, off-screen content)
- have experience with Git and AWS
- be able to write high quality documentation
- have experienced working in an Agile team
- be a keen team player with a strong willingness to learn
Desirable Skills
- An ability to learn quickly and keep up to date with the latest testing tools and techniques
- Experience of any JavaScript framework and able to interpret JavaScript code
- A good understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of using test automation
- Excellent communication and influencing skills with both technical and non-technical colleagues
- Great testing skills and experience of testing cloud hosted web applications and associated backend services
- Hands-on experience of different web automation testing tools and frameworks (preferably JS based)
- Experience of working with and sharing ideas with other testers
Experience
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or similar work based experience.
- Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer ideally with a focus on media-related projects.
- Very good working knowledge of standard software development frameworks, techniques and methodologies.
- Experience with providing coaching and mentoring
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team, contributing to the development of business scenarios.
- Knowledge of software development tools and technologies.
- You are flexible and curious in your approach
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
