Role overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Software Engineer to join our team; you will be working with one of our biggest clients who work in a squads model with a team day in the office on Thursday. This team is at the centre of the organisation and create components, systems and services that enable user’s online experience to be tailored by their activities and interactions from content recommendation to commenting on news articles.
As a key member of our team, you’ll be working on a set of authentication and authorisation microservices written in JavaScript providing both APIs and audience facing applications. The services are written using the React library and Express web application framework and then deployed using AWS so a strong working knowledge of these technologies or suitable equivalents is vital.
The successful applicant will have experience writing and maintaining robust production software, be proficient writing in one or more of TypeScript, JavaScript or Java and have knowledge of AWS serverless services including Lambda, DynamoDB, Secret Manager, Cloud Formation and Cloud Development Kit. Essential Key Skills and Responsibilities
You will:
- have expertise in Typescript, JavaScript or Java
- be experienced with AWS including Lambda, DynamoDB, Secret Manager, Cloud Formation, Cloud Development Kit (CDK)
- enjoy following a test-driven development approach alongside broader testing and QA practices
- have strong experience of project working and professional software development processes including Agile (Scrum)
- have knowledge of CORS and pre-flight requests (desired)
- practical knowledge of other AWS services like CloudWatch, CodeBuild and CodePipeline.
Experience
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or similar work-based experience.
- Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer ideally with a focus on media-related projects.
- Very good working knowledge of standard software development frameworks, techniques and methodologies.
- Experience with providing coaching and mentoring
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team, contributing to the development of business scenarios.
- Knowledge of software development tools and technologies.
- You are flexible and curious in your approach
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
