Job description

Main Responsibilities:

  • Development (design, implement, test and debug) of algorithms for core and/or application specific software requirements for automotive embedded electronic module serial production projects
  • The main responsibilities are as follows:
    – Design, develop and improve automotive core software for 3D applications
    – Refining CAD data for embedded hardware
    – Animate 3D objects
    – Rendering 3D data using OpenGL ES
    – Framerate optimization for embedded systems
  • Develop software in compliance with a formal ASPICE/CMMi based Global Product Engineering Process (GPEP)
  • Verify algorithms at component and bench level
  • Support rest of the functional disciplines with all aspects related to algorithms
  • Perform complex work assignments requiring independent problem solving and decision making, requiring strong software technical competency
  • Work assignments primarily involve senior/advanced level work and may mentor other algorithms engineer
  • Lead the planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting of all algorithms related activities for various projects
  • Coordination of integration of core and/or 3rd party algorithms into an application specific software ECU
  • Performs other duties as necessary for completion of projects and achievement of departmental goals
  • Participates in regular function/algorithm development team meetings to determine progress and address any questions or challenges
  • Is responsible for the decomposition of customer / input requirements to system or discipline level (depending on the granularity of the customer / input requirements)
  • Develops function/algorithm evaluation and performance criteria and metrics. Analyses test results and data to ascertain performance meets requirements
  • Is involved in the early warning process of critical issues, planning and target deviations within the project and beyond; definition and execution of counter measures
  • Supports the identification of strategic changes required to improve processes, efficiency, and quality
  • Supports structured problem-solving processes
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts
  • Participates in customer technical function design reviews
  • Conduct cross functional requirements reviews
  • Provides function system level DFMEA inputs if required

Position requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable relevant experience related technical field required
  • CPU programming C / C++
  • GPU programming / OpenGL ES 2 – 3, shader
  • 3D modeling, animation, raytracing
  • Familiar with software development in the automotive field
  • Strong sense of personal accountability regarding decision-making and supervising project teams
  • Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork mentality
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles
  • Knowledge of product development engineering practices in automotive field
  • Experience in usage of requirements management tools. Familiar with concepts such as base lining, inheritance
  • Familiar with typical automotive OEM requirements
  • Knowledge on VisualStudio, Eclipse
  • Knowledge on Blender, Maya, 3DSTudio Max or similar
  • Knowledge on Photoshop
  • Awareness of IS026262
  • Awareness of problem solving (8D) methods and/or techniques
  • MS Office package (especially Excel)
  • Awareness of analysis and engineering tools such as version control/configuration management, UML tools, static code check tools
  • ALM tools (PTC Integrity)
  • Language: Comprehensive knowledge of English (verbal and written),
  • Knowledge of German will be an asset

Project description

Functions Engineer for Graphics & 3D Rendering is providing technical effort for the development of functions/algorithms, in particular that the function/algorithm is completed according to its specification, within the defined time frame, while following the applicable development process. This can also include the cross-functional coordination of defined work packages of the V-Model (requirements, design, implementation, testing) and delivery of the function(s) until the SOP.
