Job description
The Configuration/Release Manager is responsible for the successful execution of the engineering configuration management process in an assigned project. He/she is in continues contact with different program members and process stakeholders outside of a program, to ensure correct process execution. Further, the Configuration/Release Manager is the owner of the configuration management process in a project and works on improvements and project specific tailoring of the process.
Main responsibilities
- Ensures the project comply with Internal CM process expectations;
- Create a project specific CM Plan and review with the PM & QED;
- Create and Maintain the project specific Baseline Configuration Matrix;
- Ensure Baselines are set for each milestone;
- Generate the CM Status Reports and distribute it to the team;
- Ensures the completion and execution of the CM Checklist for each deliverable event;
- Create and Maintain the Configuration Management Item list;
- Monitor configuration activities of the project;
- Support BOM release and Tool Plan;
- Support the project team for configuration workflows;
- Support in completing the Baseline Check Report and Product Engineering Approval Form;
- Work closely with the Team Lead – Configuration Management on CM process development;
- Understand various project needs and maturity while able to translate details and data into a meaningful Configuration Management solution;
- Performs other duties as necessary for completion of projects and achievement of departmental goals;
- Create a project specific Release Plan;
- Control the availability of deliverables from different stakeholders in the project for a release;
- Asses the consistency of the deliverables for a release;
- Create release notes for any type of release;
- Support the alignment of release activities between cross functional departments;
- Communicate releases to the customer;
- Support BOM releases;
Job requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business;
- Relevant work experience in the automotive industry or similar, preferred in R&D projects;
- Structured work approach;
- Ability to manage and coordinate cross functional communication;
- Skilled in communicating process needs to stakeholders;
- Analytical skills to work on process and workflow improvements;
- Data affinity for handling documentations and reports;
- Advanced skills in excel or other data management tools are helpful;
